Razó
Razó is the term used in Occitan to describe an explanation of the circumstances which governed the development of a Poème by a Troubadour or a Trobairitz.
The word razó means the “reason” in occitan. In the “Chansonnier S”, the collection of manuscripts of medieval poetry of the troubadours, works of a particular author are often accompanied by an explanation in prose of which the goal is to give the reason for which the poem was made up. Sometimes, these texts emanate from independent sources and, for this reason, supplement the Vida S in the same manuscripts. They are, for this reason useful for the literary and historical researchers modern. However, it is often clear that assertions emitted in the razós rise simply from a literal reading of details drawn from the poems.
