Raymond of the Temple

Raymond of the Temple (? - † 1404) is a French architect.

Biography

He was architect of the king Charles V during the reign of this last. He was also sergeant of weapons , body of gentlemen instituted by Philippe Auguste for the personal guard of the king and mason sworn of Notre-Dame de Paris. Trustful reports/ratios, even of friendship, bound the king and his architect; thus, Charles V was the godfather of the son of Raymond of the Temple, Charles, who was to succeed his father and poured to him, during his studies with Orleans, a pension of 200 francs gold.

  • With the Cathedral Notre-Dame, Raymond of the Temple takes the continuation of Jean Bouteiller and completes the chorus closure
  • In 1360, installation of the castle of the Louvre in order to transform it into residence for the king Charles V. The southern and western wings are elevated, of the mullioned windows are open in the frontage, of the turrets are added. A new home is built to accommodate the royal apartments located at 1st and 2nd stages, served by a large helicoid spiral staircase named " Large Vis" , famous and for its dimension and its decoration carved (the royal family there was represented)

  • Bâtiments and vault of the Collège from Dormans-Beauvais in Paris, street Jean-of-Beauvais. If the buildings disappeared, the vault remains, today affected with the Rumanian orthodoxe worship
  • Reconstruction of the Small-Bridge in Paris destroys in 1393. It will be again destroyed by a rising in 1408

Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer

  • In 1467, rebuilding for the king Charles V of the castle extremely set fire to by the Prince Noir in 1436. This work did not reach us since François I {{er}} made rebuild in its place, at the 16th century, a castle of Renaissance style.
