Raymond Moretti (Nice the July 23rd 1931 - Paris, the June 3rd 2005) is a French painter.

Biography

Born Italian parents having fled fascistic Italy from Mussolini. His/her father is an anarchistic carpenter of Toscane and his mother a cleaning lady Ombrie.

  • 1947 : He paints “Brace breaking the Tables of the Law”. This work is currently with the Museum of the University of Jerusalem.

  • 1962 : With Jean Cocteau, they paint many gouaches and an oil on the topic of “the Age of Aquarius”.

  • 1963 : Moretti meets Pablo Picasso, a great friendship will be born between the young artist and the old Master. Picasso will follow Moretti throughout its career and will be present in the difficult moments.

  • 1965 : Exposure of the “Cries of the World” in Paris, twelve oils of 12 square meters each one, of which “Holocaust” exposed to the Museum of Tel Aviv.

  • 1967 : It exposes to Courneuve the whole of its work. It is a triumph.

  • 1973 : Its sculpture “the Monster” thus named by Joseph Kessel, is with Defense in Paris. This monumental work occupies a surface of 1000 square meters out of five stages.

  • 1979 : It decorates the Forum with the Markets of Paris of a gigantic fresco of 200 square meters devoted to the history of Humanity. This same year, it illustrates the book De Gaulle by André Malraux.

  • 1980 : With the Chief rabbi of Israel Shlomo Goren, it illustrates the “Haggada of Ve crosses” with a translation of Leon Askenazi and a text of the Chief rabbi of France Rene Samuel Sirat.

  • 1981 : It is had a presentiment of by television to decorate the plates devoted to the presidential elections, then legislative.

With the large Master Michel de Just, it illustrates a book on the Initiatory Franc-maçonnerie Chemin . It carves the Four Time old clock which decorates the shopping mall of Defense. Homage to Don Quichotte: first of cover of the work Gift Quijote, Profeta there cabalista .
  • 1982 : Creation of the book of art the Illuminations of Rimbaud, which will receive the gold Eagle: the highest international reward allotted to a book of Article

Publication of Massada on texts of the General Moshe Dayan and Uzi Narkis. This book will be inaugurated in Paris by François Mitterrand, President of the French Republic.
  • 1983 : Presentation of the American version of Massada in New York, under the presidency of Doctor Henry Kissinger.

It draws for Vacheron-Constantin, the “Kalllista”, the most expensive watch of the world.
  • 1984 : With Franck Tenot, Daniel Filipacchi, Michel Legrand, Claude Nougaro, it is the book Jazz .
Moretti creates the posters of the electoral campaign of Shimon Peres in Israel.

Two postage stamps devoted to the commemoration of the Unloading and Resistance are engraved by Moretti. It will do several others of them thereafter.

  • 1985 : Publication of “the Man of Mancha” of Jacques Brel. Will follow in 1986, “Poetic Works” of Jacques Brel.

In May 1985, exceptional fact, a French painter, Raymond Moretti, was charged to create the poster of the more big demonstration of art in the USA, “ART Expo” of New York.
  • 1987 : Illustration of the album " By Amour" of Chick Mouskouri. The illustrations of this album will be used with many recoveries for the small pockets of the albums of Mouskouri Chick throughout the world, until on its box " intégral" in Greece, appeared in 2003 pennies the title “Mia Phoni”.

  • 1988 : “Yona”, dove biblical stylized using the characters of the Hebrew alphabet, decorates from now on the porch of two twinned sanctuaries, the large synagog of the Victoire in Paris and the large Hekhai-Schlomo synagog in Jerusalem.

  • 1989 : The painter illustrates, for the Bicentenary of the French revolution, the “republican calendar” and designs “the Tree Lights”. He composes gigantic the 60 meters broad fresco on 20 meters in height which will be the nail of the pyrotechnical spectacle which will set ablaze the Eiffel Tower on July 15th, 1989.

  • 1990 : He decorates, with Defense, a sad flue ventilating which culminates with 32 meters. He will equip the unaesthetic outgrowth with 672 glass fiber tubes.

He inaugurates in Troyes the “Memorial Rashi”, a sphere out of carbon steel 2,80 m engraved height of Hebraic signs.
  • 1992 : One celebrates the 300e number of the Literary Magazine which it has illustrated for already 20 years.

He carries out a statue which decorates the European Center of Prehistory with Tautavel.
  • 1993 : He creates the Django d' Or , trophy which rewards the world for the jazz.

  • 1995 : Inauguration of the Place of Capitole in Toulouse whose ground is decorated by an enormous cross of Languedoc and its twelve signs of the zodiac creates by Raymond Moretti.

It offers to the Parisian tourist office a poster and a greetings card.

  • 1997 : One inaugurates the arcades of the place of Capitole in Toulouse whose ceilings have been decorated of 29 paintings of 2,5m on 3,10m illustrating the history of the city for more than two millenia.

It draws the diploma envied of the open Competition. It draws a bronze medal published by the Monnaie of Paris in homage to Jerusalem.

He dies in Paris on June 3rd, 2005 at 73 years of a pulmonary embolism.
