Raymond Duval

Raymond Duval (1894-1955) is the French general, commander-in-chief of the division of Constantine, which directed the repression known under the name of Massacre of Sétif.

It nevertheless threw a lucid glance on this massacre because it wrote with his wife: “since May 8th, a ditch grew hollow between the two communities. A fact is certain: it is not possible that the maintenance of French sovereignty is exclusively based on the force. ”

Born with Maubeuge in 1894, he was higher commander of the troops of Morocco and Lieutenant-general of army of Riols de Fonclare.
