Raymond Couderc

Raymond Couderc is a Politician French born on September 16th 1946 with Bordeaux. He is currently senator-mayor of Béziers and Regional adviser.

University career

Professor of the universities in geography, author of a thesis of State on the high Oranian steppes, cooperating in Algeria for the ministry for agriculture in the Seventies, it initially taught with the Université of Algiers, then with the Université Toulouse II and finally with the Université Montpellier III, where it directs the die of rural development, before taking his retirement in 2004.

Political course

In 1983, he is 3rd assistant of the mayor of Béziers, after the victory of Georges Fontès (RPR, old PS)
In 1992, he is elected general adviser on the Canton of Béziers-4 (until 1998)
In 1993, he is elected appointed UDF of the 6 {{E}} district of Herault.
In 1995, it beats Alain Barrau with the municipal elections and becomes mayor of Béziers.
In 1998, it is elected regional adviser of the Languedoc-Roussillon on list RPR/UDF of Jacques Blanc.
In 2001, it is re-elected with the 1st tower face, Jean-Claude Gayssot (Plural left).
In 2004, it carries out the list UMP of Jacques Blanc in the department of Herault for the regional elections where it is re-elected regional adviser.
on August 26th, 2007, it is elected senator of Herault, at the time of partial organized following the election like deputy of André Vézinhet.

He is also secretary of the UMP federation of the Herault, whose deputy Paul-Henri Cugnenc was the president.

Economic policies

Its principal achievements on a municipal scale are the reorganization of the crossroads of Hours (with a project of commercial arcade denounced by the left opposition as calling into question the revitalization of the downtown area), the support with the development of the university center Of Guesclin, the creation of Fèsta d' Oc (festival occitan) which is held each year mid-July, and the embellishment of the downtown area (Allées Paul Riquet, street of the Republic). Since 2004, he fights with Jacques Blanc against Georges Frêche, new president of the Languedoc-Roussillon area. Lastly, Raymond Couderc is president of the Communauté of agglomeration Béziers the Mediterranean.
