Raymond Chandler

Raymond Thornton Chandler (July 23rd 1888 - March 26th 1959) was an American writer black novels. Its influence on the Roman modern black was strong, in particular by its style, which was largely adopted.
Biography
Chandler was born with Chicago in the Illinois in 1888, but moved in Great Britain in 1895 at the time of the divorce of his/her parents. It entered to the Dulwich College in 1900 and was naturalized English in 1907 to be able to pass the examination of the civil service. It makes a success of this examination and worked during one year with the British Admiralty. It published its first poem at that time. After having left the civil service, Chandler worked as freelance journalist and continued to write poetries of style " romantic tardif".
Chandler returned to the United States in 1912 and was formed to be an accountant. In 1917, it engaged in the Canadian army and fought in France. After the Armistice, it settled with Los Angeles and began a connection with an older woman (Cissy Pascal) whom it married thereafter. In 1932, Chandler had become vice-president of Dabney Oil Syndicate to Signal Hill in California but it lost this lucrative work because of its alcoholism.
He only learned how to write pulp S to try to earn his living by his artistic talents. Its first history was published in Black Mask in 1933. Its first novel The Big Sleep was published in 1939.
Following the success of its novels, Chandler worked as scenario writer for Hollywood, in particular with Billy Wilder on the novel of James Mr. Cain Double Indemnity (1944) and writing its only original screenplay The Blue Dahlia (1946).
Cissy died in 1954 and Chandler started again with drinking. The quality of its writing felt some and it tried to commit suicide in 1955. he died of Pneumonie in 1959.

All these novels are investigations of a private detective of Los Angeles named Philip Marlowe.

Adaptations to the cinema
