Ray Abrams

Ray Abrams (Raymond Abramson) is a Saxophoniste American tenor born the January 23rd 1920 with New York and probably deceased in 1992 (? - according to a German database ).

He is the older brother of the beater Lee Abrams.

Biography

Ray Abrams made its professionals beginning in combo S of Brooklyn and attends the musician of the style Bebop. In 1946, he plays in the big band of Dizzy Gillespie. He plays then in jazz bands Mainstream (Don Redman in 1947) and Andy Kirk of 1947 with 1949) and directs a time his clean Big band (1947).

He makes a short return in the orchestra of Gillespie before becoming musician “free lance” in New York. One can hear it near musicians like Hot Lips Page, Roy Eldridge, Bill Harris, Slim Gaillard. He plays then mainly in orchestras of Rhythm and blues and disappears gradually from the music scene. He seems to be deceased in annés the 1990.
