Rautalampi

Rautalampi is a municipality center of the Finland, in the province of Eastern Finland and the area of Savonie of North.

The parish is one of oldest center of Finland. It was indeed founded starting from Sysmä in 1561 and then included/understood the north of the current area of Finland-Power station and the Western fringe of current Savonie of North. Not less than 27 current communes formed part at one time when with another of the parish of Rautalampi.

Today, Rautalampi is a commune little populated, having lost 50% of its inhabitants since his historical maximum of 7000 hearts at the beginning of the Années 1950. The agriculture and the exploitation of the forest remain the main resources.

The landscape is picturesque, with a entrelac of lakes (they cover 28% of the territory of the commune) which in fact an important estival destination for the Finnish tourists. One finds there 1600 houses of holidays which give a real support for the economy during the summer months.

The close municipalities are Vesanto in the North-West, Tervo in north, Suonenjoki in the east, Pieksämäki in the south (Savonie of the South), Hankasalmi in south-west and Konnevesi in the west (2 in Finland-Power station).
