History

Animutants

Rattrap belonged to the crew of primal Optimus on board maximum vessel Alaxon, or it was most probably charged with the joists to the explosives in the undergrounds. According to the known as ones of the series, it had then as a mode conveys a motor bike. After did the crash landing of the vessel, it have to take an animal fashion to survive and chooses (or accepted?) that of a gray rat. In the context of the war of Animutants, he became saboteur, to see even double agent. It will remain there during all the series, and becomes transmétal at the beginning of season 2. It belongs to the surviving maximals which return on Cybertron at the end of season 3.

Beast Machines

In Beast Machines, Rattrap is always present among the maximals, belonging to the four of the original team which were not taken by véhicons (primal Optimus, Vélocitor, Rattrap and the Black Widow) and received new bodies techno-organics. It is however later than his comrades to succeed in transforming, and discovers with frustration when it reaches that point that its robot novel mode does not have weapons. In counterpart, it from now on became a kind of alive computer, its tail being used as card of universal connection (what enables him to connect with any machine to infiltrate the files of them) and its helmet of monitor. Thanks to these new capacities, it compensates for without difficulties its absence of weapon, and cumulates from now on, in addition to its function of saboteur, that of engineer and expert in mechanics. Even if it is not shown as gifted as Rhinox, he remains a good mechanic.

Description

Character

Of all the maximals, Rattrap east can be funniest: pessimist, grouser and equipped with a direction of sometimes heavy humor, it releases more or less good jokes unceasingly, invents idiotic nicknames for all the animutants (" Chaton" for Vélocitor, " the large vert" for Rhinox, " Méga-crétin" for Mégatron, etc) and shows a little couard at certain times, even if the others can count on him where necessary. It does not trust any the last prédators maximum side (exepté Silverbot), estimating that " a préd (ator) is always a préd (ator) ". Because of this logic, it enters without delay in conflict with Dinobot, which it calls " Head of Iguane" (while Dinobot calls it " Vermisseau"), and disputes almost all the time with them. Paradoxically, both are often reconciled with the combat, and form a frightening group then. Finally, Rattrap will have evil to admit the death of Dinobot, and will be the first to greet its vital spark when this one leaves. On the other hand, it will never make to confidence neither with Ravage nor with the Black Widow, and will acknowledge in Silverbot that it " Trusted Dinobot, and regrets it (Dinobot, or the fact of having trusted him?)". It sometimes happens to him to play video games on the maximum computer of the base, which still contributes to return it comique.
Contrary to much of maximals, Rattrap primarily preserved the same personality in Beast Machines, with relatively little additions, if not of affinities in mechanics. It also develops, during season 2, which seems to be feelings for Botanica.
