Robert Francis Kennedy, Sr. (born the November 20th 1925 with Boston and deceased on June 6th, 1968 with Los Angeles) was an American politician . He was called Bob or Bobby .

Biography

Robert F. Kennedy is resulting from a catholic family Irish installed with Brookline in the Massachusetts. The Kennedy are a family which will be very present in policy, among her eight brothers and sisters, there was a president, John F. Kennedy, and three senators, John F., Robert F. and Edward Mr. Kennedy.

At 17 years, Bobby enlists in the US Navy, where it serves several years. It integrates the universities of Bates College and Harvard.

Political career

While his/her brother John F. Kennedy conducts campaign to become senator, Robert Kennedy the shoulder.

Attorney General

Bob Kennedy passes in the foreground when John, elected president of the United States, takes his functions in 1961 and names it Attorney General (Minister for Justice). It carries out a great fight against crime then organized and the underworld, in particular against Jimmy Hoffa, Sam Giancana, Santos Trafficante Jr. and Carlos Marcello.
Bobby is the closest adviser of its brother. He thus plays a fundamental role in the peaceful resolution of the Crise of the missiles of Cuba. It is also him which presses his/her brother to actively engage in favor of the Civic right during the summer 1963, little before the latter is not assassinated.

After the assassination of his/her brother

After the Assassination of John F. Kennedy, the November 22nd 1963, Bob quickly gives its resignation to the new president Lyndon Johnson, with whom he does not get along. It passes then by a long period of doubt and handing-over in question.

Radically changed by the death of his brother, it slips on the left of the political spectrum and firmly engages on the side of the poor and the misfits. Its action leads it to the four corners of the United States, but also in the countries of the Tiers-monde.

In 1964, it decides to aspire to the post of senator of the State of New York, to which it is elected.

The presidential race

The president Lyndon Johnson, weakened by the Guerre of Vietnam, announces in March 1968 that it will not be represented. Robert F. Kennedy decides to present to the primary educations Democratic party in order to become the candidate with the presidency of the United States. Bob Kennedy is thus in race vis-a-vis the vice-president Hubert Humphrey, but also vis-a-vis Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern. It belongs to the candidates who denounce the war of Vietnam publicly and support the fight in favor of the civic rights, social justice and the equality. The day of the assassination of Martin Luther King, on April 4th, 1968, it is thus in a black ghetto, where it makes a speech which alleviates the heats and is probably not foreign with the absence of riots.

It gains the primary elections of California, which brings back it in the race to the nomination by its party.

The assassination

The evening even of its victory to the democratic primary educations of California, the June 5th 1968, it is made draw above by a Palestinian, Sirhan Sirhan. He dies the following day at the hospital. Bobby had just finished its speech and took a walkabout when Sirhan arrived and drew several balls with bearing end in direction from the senator Kennedy: one wounded it with the shoulder, another with the head and all the others either wounded people in crowd, or they were placed in the walls and the quadrages doors.

Its assassination, just like that of his/her brother, remains the subject of controversies. Principal is that according to majority of witnesses, Sirhan Sirhan would have drawn on Robert Kennedy from face and with distance estimated at 1 to 1,5 meter, whereas the medical examiner estimated that the ball mortal would have been drawn in the nape of the neck from Kennedy, of behind and with a few centimetres, which seems to indicate the presence of at least a second gunner, and thus complot.
Sirhan Sirhan declared that it had killed Robert Kennedy because it had given his support for Israel in the Guerre the Six Day old in June 1967.
