Raphael Eduard Liesegang

Raphael Eduard Liesegang 1869 - 1947) is a Photographe and Chimiste of the Colloïde S German. It took again the photographic company of his father, of which a part was at the origin of the company Agfa, then it worked on colloids with Frankfurt starting from 1937. General-purpose researcher, it made also research on the neurons, on precursors of the Télévision, etc He was also author of Théâtre and scientific editor.

In 1896, Raphael Liesegang by depositing a drop of Silver nitrate on Bichromate of potassium in the gelatin discovers that the Précipitation occurs in concentric forms of rings called since rings of Liesegang .

These oscillating reactions can occur in several situations and one can see good examples of them on the walls of cliffs of Pénestin in Brittany (France).
