Raphaël Delaunay

Raphaël Emile Jean Delaunay was born with Tours (Indre and the Loire) on April 9th, 1870.

Former intern, he is pharmacist of 1st class. Married it has 3 girls.

Elected official mayor of Gien (Loiret), it presents himself to the general elections of the ninth legislature on May 6th, 1906. He is elected with the first ballot by 8405 votes against 5749 for his competitor, on 16053 voters.

He thus becomes appointed of Loiret of the district of Gien and its election is validated (A.S.O of 1906, t2, p87).

It is registered with the party radical socialist and is belonged to various commissions, and in particular of that of the public health.

During its mandate, it takes part in various discussions: Budget of 1907 (Finance law - Tax on the cars) - Budget of 1908 (State education - Chaplains of the colleges) - Bill authorizing the collection of the duties applicable to the special budget of Algeria for 1908 (colonization and condition of the natives) - Budget of 1909 (Agriculture: its draft Resolution concerning an investigation into the rise of superphosphates), as well as other various interventions.

April 24th, 1910, he requests the renewal of his mandate of deputy. He is beaten by his competitor with the first ballot. He collects 5389 votes against 9263 votes out of 15236 voters.

He then takes again his activities of pharmacist with Montargis. He shares his activities and leisures between Montargis, Gien and his castle of Jouanne located at Cabbages small commune of Loiret close to Gien.

It is then the “Great War”. He is useful as pharmacist assistant medical officer of 1st class.

February 18th, 1917, at eight hours of the morning, Raphaël Delaunay dies suddenly Gare St Lazare in Paris.
