Raoul de Navery

Raoul de Navery (Ploërmel 1831 - the Ferté-sous-Jouarre 1885) is a French writer of the 19th century. She wrote many novels impresses of a burning Catholicism.

Biography

Raoul de Navery is the pseudonym of Marie Saffray.

She accepted her mother a strict and severe education. She went to school at the Ladies of Sacred Heart to Vannes. These last encouraged her leaning for the literature. It Maria with Doctor Chervet at the 16 years age. He died four years later. She was twenty years old and then started to write.

She writes her first texts (poetry and prose) under the name of Marie David . These texts are rather bad. Starting from 1860, it writes under the male pseudonym of Raoul de Navery . Its work is marked by the values morals and catholics. It comprises many stereotypes and improbabilities. Generally its writings are not marked of a great literary quality.

She died on May 17th, 1885 at the Ferté-sous-Jouarre in the Seine-et-Marne.
