Raoul Warocqué

Raoul Warocqué (Brussels February 4th 1870 - idem May 28th 1917) is a Belgian Capitaliste of the end of the 19th century which incarnates the social and paternalist tendency certain owners of this time.

Its property became with Morlanwelz-Mariemont an exceptional museum in Wallonia, in particular by the richness of its collections as regards Chinese art.

Raoul Warocqué could be photographed on the staircase of his residence in company of the majority of the ambassadors of China in Europe, index of the industrial power of the Wallonia at that time.

He took the presidency of the Chamber of commerce sino-Belgian rested by the eminent diplomat and sinologist Charles Michel

Raoul Warocqué was selected like one of the Hundred Walloons of the century, by the Institut Jules Destrée, in 1995.
