Raoul is the son of Raoul IV Flamenc, lord of Cany, Varesnes, Beaulincourt, and of Marie NR.
He is the downward one of a seigneuriale family, possessionné mainly with the surroundings Canny-on-Matz, in Picardy. Their other ground, Varesnes is a considerable seigniory. It belongs as of 1128 to Raoul Ier Flamenc. Biography
Raoul V Flamenc takes share with the Seventh crusade. Saint Louis undertakes this Croisade in 1248 with the blessing of the pope Innocent IV. They start from Acute-Dead in France in 1248. The crusaders winter with Cyprus, before leaving guerroyer against the Egypt and the Syria. The crusade ends in 1254.
The crusaders easily seize Damiette in 1249. But after these first successes, the army takes Mansourah and is taken there with the trap and victim of an epidemic. Saint Louis, weakened, beats a retreat. It is even made prisoner with two of its brothers. It is obliged, to recover its freedom to pay 400.000 gold besants. Lastly, the king and his army are beaten with the Fariskur, in May 1250.
Raoul V Flamenc is fifth lord of Cany in 1270.
Raoul V Flamenc is carried in the list of Ducange like having six knights eating with him with the hotel of the king.
