Raoul Dautry
Raoul Dautry is an engineer, leader of state enterprises and politician French, born the September 16th 1880 with Montlucon (Allier) and deceased the August 21st 1951 with Lourmarin (Vaucluse).
After its studies with the Polytechnic school (X1900 promotion), it starts a career with the Compagnie of the railroads of North. It develops in 1914 a system of circulation of the Train S making it possible the reinforcements to go on the face of the East (Bataille of the Marne). It creates “the hundred days way” at the beginning of Beauvais. It occupies of important functions in the railroads: he is managing director of the Compagnie of the state railways of 1928 with 1937. During the creation of the National company of the railroads French (the SNCF) in 1938, he becomes member of sound Board of directors.
Dautry is Minister for the Armament of the September 20th 1939 with the June 16th 1940 (Daladier governments and Reynaud). It obtains the agreement of Daladier to send a mission in Norway of seeking the stock available of heavy Eau coveted by the Germans. During the Occupation, it is withdrawn in its house of Lourmarin (Vaucluse), and does not take share with the political life.
With the Release, it is named Minister for the Rebuilding and Town planning in the government of the general de Gaulle of the November 16th 1944 with the January 20th 1946. Thereafter, he becomes general administrator of the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (ECA). It is him which chooses the site of the installations of the ECA with Saclay.
In 1946, it is elected with the Academy of Science morals and political.
He was mayor of Lourmarin.
He was named Grand Officer of the Légion of honor.

Its name was given to a Parisian place located in front of the Montparnasse station, taking into account the part which he played in the railway development in France.
