Ranua

Ranua is a municipality north of the Finland, in Finnish Lapland. The commune is known for its important zoo specialized in the Arctic species.

Geography

Ranua marks the southern edge of Lapland. No Tunturi, only of low hills. Immense forests intersected with marshes, very few zones cultivated and rare Reindeer S in extensive breeding. The great number of marshes makes it possible to collect and to market in August in all the country a great quantity of wall yellow marshes ( Lakka in Finnois), very required for jam. The village centers, located at 81 km of the downtown area of Rovaniemi, concentrates more half of the population, the remainder of the municipality being practically empty.

Only one big lake, the lake Simojärvi and its 90 km ².
