In XIVe century, the area is devastated by the English.
XVIe century is that of the rebellion of the peasants and the religious disorders. At the time of the War Thirty Year old, the Swedish devastate the country. At the end of the conflict, the country counts nothing any more but one tenth of its population.
After the French revolution, Ranrupt belongs to the canton of Saales, which is annexed by the Germany in 1871, before returning to France in 1918. It is the same in 1940 then in 1944.
Ranrupt knows a strong demographic exodus starting from the middle of the XIXe century: the culture is poor, painful and not very profitable, the little developed industrial sector and the successive wars of 1870,1914 and 1939 lead the inhabitants to settle in France.
