Rangen great wine
The locality Rangen was authorized in 1983 (decree on enforcement of a law of the law of 1975) to belong to the delimited zones of name Alsace great wine.
Located on the communes of Thann and Old man-Thann (Haut-Rhin), it constitutes the single Alsatian Great wine on an exclusively volcanic soil.
It is the southernmost Great wine of Alsace. Directed full south, it consists of sides with very accentuated slopes.
The Rangen Great wine overhangs the river the Thur. This proximity supports the appearance of noble Pourriture favourable with making of liqueur-like high-class wines (Late Vendanges and Sélection of Noble Grains).
