Rand al\' Thor
Rand al' Thor is the main character of the cycle of fantasy the Wheel of Time of Robert Jordan.
Its titles: The Réincarné Dragon, That Which Comes With the Paddle, Car' a' Carn (Chief of the chiefs of Aiels), Coramoor, Killer-of-Darkness, Seigneur of the Morning, Prince of the Paddle, Vrai Defender of the Light, King of Tear, " Régent" of Cairhien and Andor. Large (nearly 2 m) with broad shoulders, gray eyes and a color of hair drawing on the red, it is larger of a head than Mat. Raise very fast, it needs to see a thing only once to know it. Intelligent, of strong will and obstinate. It is a man of honor and chivalrous.
It is son adoptive of Kari and Tam Al' Thor (he is known as in the encyclopedia at the end of the 2nd volume that it is old Liege, one can thus reasonably conclude from it that Kari Al' Thor was Aes Sedai of Ajah green), the latter found it on the slopes of the Mount Dragon during the Aielle War. It grew in the Two Rivers (antique kingdom of Manetheren) with the Field of Emond, in the Kingdom of Andor, but the royal capacity fell in disuse in the isolated region.
Sought by the Dark one, he flees of his native village in Company of Mat Cauthon, Perrin Aybara, Egwene al' Vere, Moiraine Damodred, Al' Lan Mandragoran and Thom Merrilin (then joined by Nynaeve). He discovers quickly that it is able to channel the saidin, the male Single Capacity, and that it is the Réincarné Dragon.
It kills two Réprouvés (of allied of Dark able to channel) and pushes back Seanchans (invaders come from the West). With the assistance of aiels, it seizes Pierre de Tear (and becomes the king about it) and of the Single Sword. He proclaims Dragon Réincarné then Car' a' Carn of invincible Aiels. He takes the head of those and adds to his conquests Cairhien, then Andor (at least its Caemlyn capital). He captures Rejected Asmodean so that it forms it in the canalisage, but this one is killed. He eliminates two others Réprouvés. Its fulgurating rise causes riots of so-called brigands in his honor, and it is rejoined by Aes Sedai rebels, by Mazrim Taim (a ex-false dragon), by Bashere. It also has at its Perrin sides, Seigneur of the Two-Rivers, and Chechmate, large military strategist. It creates a school of Aes Sedai masculines, the Black Tower, directed by Mazrim Taim and intended has to compete with the White Tower.
After proclaimbeing proclaimed the Réincarné Dragon, it set up solids ramparts to protect itself: Tan Shai' (the Dark one) has the capacity to travel in the world of the dreams and to even kill by the means them dreams, its capacity is also known of all Réprouvés (Aes Sedaï serving the Dark one) and by some " sagesses" Aielles, later also by Egwene, then by more and more of Aes Sedaï, but only by the means of some ter' angreals. It is become being wary (in particular at Aes Sedai which tried to capture it), does not trust any more many people and is afraid to make evil with those which it likes, this permanent mistrust makes it cold, arrogant and without heart with the eyes of all, however it is still the same one. He is wary even of him, because in addition to the young Rand, all the old incarnations of the Dragon are also in its head and more and more présentes.
Rand is the réincarné dragon, the largest enemy of the Dark one, but it is a Aes Sedai male and the male part of the true source is soiled by the Dark one so that all the men working too a long time with the saïdin are condemned to become insane, it is them which caused the destruction of the world after having imprisoned the Dark one, devastating all, it is the fate of which Rand is afraid, and at the same time the reason for which it is afraid of the entourage of its friends.
Its truths parents are Janduin, Aiel of the Shaiel clan, and Tigraine, the former Girl-Heiress of Andor.
