Ramzan Kadyrov

Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov (in Cyrillic РамзанАхмадовичКадыров ), born the October 5th 1976 with Tsenteroi (Chetchnia) is the president of the Chetchnia since the February 15th 2007.

He was the Prime Minister by interim of the November 17th 2005 with the February 28th 2006, after the car accident of his predecessor Serguei Abramov, he returned in function like Prime Minister the March 4th 2006 with approval of the Parliament of the republic. It is the first time since the end of the conflict with the federal center which the Russia authorizes the nomination in Chetchnia of a Prime Minister of ethnos group tchetchene and not of Russian ethnos group.

After his/her father, the Chechen president and former large mufti Akhmad Kadyrov had been assassinated the May 9th 2004, he became Deputy Prime Minister for the Republic of Chetchnia.

Also with the head of the Security services of the presidency tchetchene (the Kadyrovtsy ), Kadyrov was often shown to be violent and antidemocratic. According to the newspapers, it was implied in many cases of tortures and murder.

It also supported the Russian president Vladimir Poutine, although rumors affirm that recent military operations not - authorized decided by Kadyrov put in anger the the Kremlin. It is engaged in a power struggle to direct the army with the war leaders tchetchene Sulim Yamadayev and Sayed-Magomed Kakiyev, which with them three represents different political interests.

In December 2005, after a serious car accident of the Prime Minister Sergueï Abramov with Moscow (which is regarded as not being a terrorist act), Ramzan Kadyrov becomes Prime Minister of Chetchnia by interim. After one long period of Abramov convalescence gives finally its resignation the February 28th 2006 to the profit of Ramzan Kadyrov.

With a direct and indirect control from 12.000 to 34.000 armed men, often of war veterans raftered anti-Russian, Ramzan is actually the true Master of the Chetchnia, beside the new flexible Parliament. Publicly pro-federal and openly anti Wahhabite, being often shown beside Vladimir Poutine, it preaches, on another side, an Islamization of manners and habits tchetchenes and often acts as radical nationalist.

At the time of the international crisis of the caricatures of Mahomet, Ramzan Kadyrov, the February 7th 2006, prohibited to presence as Chetchnia the Danish governmental organizations, where one of them works actively in the humane field.

The February 15th 2007, it is named by the Russian president Vladimir Poutine, president by interim after the resignation of Alou Alkhanov. He becomes officially president the March 2nd.

Ramzan Kadyrov is married and has 5 children.

Suspicion of crimes

The German group of defense of the human rights, Gesellschaft für bedrohte Völker (GfbV) affirmed that 70 % of the murders, rapes, tortures and removals as Chetchnia were made by the internal security force which it directed, a private army of 3000 men, name of Kadyrovtsy . In one of his last articles published on September 11th, 2006, the journalist assassinated Anna Politkovskaïa wrote: " What the Kadyrov syndrome? One can characterize it by the following features which are insolence lout and cruelty masked by courage and kindness. As Chetchnia Kadyrovtsy strikes the men and the women as from the moment when they think that it is necessary. They decapitate them in the same way that their Wahhabites enemies. And all this is justified and commented on by more the high ranking authorities by " details in order to raise of Tchétchènes in favor of Russia ".
