Ramsès V

Ramsès was the fourth Pharaon of ancient Egypt. He reigned from -1150 to -1145.

He was probably the son of Ramsès {{IV}}. Its reign is marked by the growing influence of the priests of Amon, who controlled the major part of the country and his finances. The papyrus Turin 1887 brings back an accounting scandal during its reign, which implied the priests of Éléphantine.

One clearly does not know the circumstances of his death - perhaps it was assassinated by his successor, Ramsès {{VI}}. Its Momie was found, and seems to attest that he died of the Variole, though a major wound with the head could result in its death.
