Ramphothèque

The ramphothèque is the visible part of the Bec of the Oiseau X or the tortoises, consisted of two parts, for the higher Mandibule, the other for the lower mandible. The ramphothèque can be simple or made up (then composed of several plates).

The Culmen is the dorsal edge of the mandible superior. The Maxille is the mandible inferior. In the birds, the fleshy part, without feather, which recovers the base of the ramphothèque is called wax.
