Rammed Grouev

Damian Iovanov Grouev (in Bulgarian bg ДамянЙовановГруев ; in Macedonian mk ДамјанЈовановГруев ), called Damé Gouev ( bg ДамеГруев ) was born on January 19th, 1871 with Smilevo (today in Macedonia) and died on December 23rd, 1906 close to the mount Petlec and the village of Roussinovo (today in Macedonia). It was leading Bulgarian revolutionary movement in Macedonia and it was among the founders of the Bulgarian revolutionary Committees of Adrianople-Macedonia (BMARC) which were active rebellious groups in Macedonia and Othoman Thrace at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century.

Biography

Youth

It made its primary studies in its native village, of the secondary studies with Ressen, Bitola and with the Bulgarian gymnasium for men of Salonique and of the higher learning of history at the university of Sofia (1889-1890).

Whereas it was still with the college with Salonique, Grouev felt the weight of the unbearable oppression of the Ottoman Empire and the ill treatment whose the object the Slavic ones were. It thus left the university and turned over in Macedonia to imply itself in the revolutionary movement.

First steps in the revolutionary activity

To conclude its projects and to avoid waking up the suspicions of the Turkish authorities, Damé Grouev decided to become a professor of Bulgarian school. During two years which followed its return to Macedonia, he taught initially in his native village of Smilevo (1891-92), then in the town of Prilep (1892-93). He is established, in 1883, in Salonique where he became corrector with printing works Samarciev .
