Ramón Otero Pedrayo

Ramón Otero Pedrayo (Orense, 1888 - Trasalba, Amoeiro, 1976) is a writer espaggnol in language Galician and intellectual Galician of the generation Nós.

Patriarch of the Galician letters, it is one of the most recognized Galician writers of. He wrote in several kinds: the Test, the Romance , the Poetry. In addition to its literary work it occupied a Chaire of Géographie to the Université of Saint-Jacques-of-Compostelle. It directed the drafting of a Guide of the Galicia. Militant of the Party Galeguista, it was appointed Spanish under the II ème republic.

Its work

Among his novels one can notice Os camiños da emptied (ways of the life) O mesón back Ermos , which are meticulous descriptions of the habits and life in the countryside in Galicia. Its most known novel Arredor of if (Around oneself), that one can regard as partially autobiographical, allows to follow the advance traversed by the intellectuals of the generation Nós to lead to the galleguism. This aspect autobiographiqe is supplemented by the articles of Florentino López Cuevillas Of nuestros tiempos' (Of our time) and Nós bone inadaptados (Us, misfits) of Vicente Risco, articles published in the Nós review.

Posterity

  • the house - museum; today, the Foundation Otero Pedrayo and the Penzol Foundation preserve the library as well as the documents and the writings of Otero Pedrayo in the house - museum of Trasalba.
