Rajah Hindustani

Rajah Hindustani is an Indian film carried out by Dharmesh Darshan, left in 1995.

Synopsis

Aarti (Karisma Kapoor), whose mother died, lives with her loved father (Suresh Oberoi) and her antipathetic mother-in-law Shalini (Archana Puran Singh) who plots with her brother to recover the family heritage. They live a sumptuous house with Bombay, are richissimes, occidentalized and little looking on “the true” values. A universe of ostentation and abundance where to only appear it and the society life is of setting. Aarti wishes one day to go to Palankhet, the village where his/her parents knew each other… It goes there accompanied by its two employees of house (not to say maidservants)… really particular! A young taxi driver bourru, in the middle tender, independent and incidentally excel singer, Rajah Hindustani (Aamir Khan), accompanies them. He thus named himself because he is his own Master, Rajah, and Hindustani-Indian, because he does not assert himself of any particular ethnos group (Hindu, Moslem, etc). Rajah is also a large shy person with horse on the principles… The voyage lasts one day and it is agreed to make a stop of night in a hotel. But two “funny ladies” who accompany them forgot to validate their reservation, and Rajah nicely proposes to lodge them.

In the village of Rajah, Aarti becomes acquainted with the modest family, traditional, simple, cordial and accessible well… far from the opulence which she always knew… Aarti and Rajah develop a deep attraction one for the other, and although coming from contexts socio-economic very distant, it, rich and cultivated, it, poor and rather rough, they decide to be linked after a pure stolen kiss! But the father of Aarti emits conditions with this marriage taking into account the modest social status of Rajah: to be an obeying son-in-law, to reside in the vicinity and to learn the uses of their company. The pride and the honor of Rajah make it refuse. He and Aarti thus marry without the blessing of the father of this one. In spite of that the father of Aarti returns and in wedding gift a charming house offers to him. But, there still, the dignity of Rajah makes it leave his hinges and he refuses all “charity”. Misunderstandings due to their difference in mentalities and mediums start to appear, whereas in basic screen the mother-in-law plots more than ever to break the couple…
