A railway manufacturer is a Entreprise which carries out the manufacture and the assembly of the railway Rolling stock: Locomotive S, motorized oars, Rail-car S, cars passengers, Coach S, oar of Subway, Tram S…

It is a sector which includes/understands several segments, the same companies being able to be present in several of these segments: construction of rolling stock, production of spare parts or subsets (wheels and axles, bogies, pantographs, doors…), production of fixed equipment (indication, rails…).

Its customers are either of the railway companies, of the networks of subway and tram, or of the companies of railway work, or of the companies of Location of rolling stock.

The market of railway construction is relatively segmented because of the regulations specific to each country or subsets of country, and with the traditional presence of powerful owners, often of the national companies public which imposed their clean Norme a long time, which limited the international Concurrence. It is still often the case, but certain segments of this industry tend to be internationalized with on the one hand the opening of the markets under the effect of the Mondialisation, and, in Europe, of the construction of the European Union. One attends in addition the concentration of the companies on a world level. For example in the construction of engines and trains at high speed, the groups powerful and very few share the essence of these markets.
