Raillencourt-Holy-Olle
Raillencourt-Holy-Olle is a common French, located in the department of the Northern and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
History
The first historical traces of the village appear in the writings in the year 1010: Rollaicort, Rollaincourt in 1030 and Raillencourt in 1142, name of a Seigniory had by a family at the current place of the farm of Mr. Chauwin.Sainte Olle comes from Santolla, Santolle, according to a bubble of the Pape Innocent II gone back to 1142. Sainte Olle indicates the holy one which was Martyr ized in these places with the XIe century. It was recluse and its reputation of holiness was spread well quickly in the area. In the Cathedral of Cambric, the administration of the Art schools placed a Vitrail of holy Olle on the left transept. The village was first of all called Holy-Olle-Raillencourt, by the importance of the religious aspect at that time. Raillencourt-holy-Olle on a Roman Voie was connecting Cambrai to Arras. Then, under Napoleon, this road was moved in its current layout.
The village, located on the road of the commercial exchanges between the France and the Germanic, had to also share the blows on a border extremely discussed between the two camps.
In 1339, Raillencourt-Holy-Olle was devastated like Cambrai and was ruined following the confrontation of the Duc of Burgundy and the Maréchal Bertrand. Jeanne d' Arc, captive of English would have passed to Sainte Olle during its transfer to Rouen, on the way connecting Cambrai to Arras.
The very agitated period of the history of the village was to finish when the armies of the Sun king entered victorious the April 5th 1677, attaching the village to the kingdom of France.
With the XVIIIe century, the Agriculture occupies the population in an intermittent way: the flax was woven, one cultivated the Blé and the Seigle. There were many mills with oil on the spot.
With the XIXe century, the industrial activity occupied much villager, in a factory of torrefaction of Chicorée, a fodder plant of which the root is used to replace the Café. In the same way in " factories of sucre" , distillings and oil mills (Colza and oil poppy).
