Railing
A railing is a barrier of protection placed on the sides of a opened Escalier, or circumference of a Palier, a Balcon, a Mezzanine or a Galerie or with any other place in order to prevent an accidental fall in the vacuum. The composition of the railing can vary, but generally its construction implies that it cannot be climbed easily or that a newborn can slip between his components.
Types of railing
-
crawling Railing: it follows the flight of Escalier.
- Railing of stage: it makes it possible to make safe a balcony, a mezzanine…
One observes rules different for construction from a railing following the place where it will be installed.
Types of fixing
- Fixing with the Frenchwoman, or fixing on dish of flagstone: The railing comes to be fixed on the top of the concrete slab.
- Fixing with English, or fixing out of bracket: The railing comes to be fixed against the thickness of the concrete slab.
- Self-supported, the railing is not fixed but is posed on a terrace and is not maintained using counterweight.
Standards
According to the place where the railing must be established its resistance changes:- Platform of stage: 1.7kN/ml
- ERP (receiving Establishment of the public): 1k NR /ml
- Particular: 1.3kN/ml if the length is higher than 3.5 meters.
- Particular: 0.4kN/ml if the longor is lower than 3.5 meters.
General rules of construction
Railing crawling : The position of the handrail of this one must always be envisaged with a height of 0,90 meter (900mm) minimum compared to the edge of step.Railing of stage : The position of the Handrail of this one must always be envisaged with a height minimum of 1 Mr. (1020mm generally).
- For horizontal Barraudage: one finds obligatorily a plinth, generally located at 50 Misters of the ground and which goes up until 450mm minimum. Followed number of smooth wished to obtain 1020 Misters the maximum spacing of those must be of 180 Misters
- For vertical barraudage: one finds a spacing between the bars of 110 mm maximum.
General rules for the industrial facilities
The case of the industrial facilities holds a little different standards. In the case of access to the machines (generally in industrial sites) an European standard envisages a height minimum of 1,10 meter with a plinth on a 10 cm height to the bottom of the railing. The railing must have a resistance in sufficient horizontal pressure to retain a person.
