Rail shooter
The rails shooters (“plays of shooting on rails”) are a particular form of Shoot them up .
Their gameplay is very restrictive and encourages with the research of the best possible score. The player does not have the control of his virtual misadventure, it is only possible to direct the weapon, rotations, changes of plans etc are managed by the play. Beginning with the end the player is forced to follow the way imposed by the program, however it can sometimes influence indirectly on unquestionable course by reaching type of score. The strict definition of a play on rails included the shot them up on rail ( Panzer Dragoon , Rez ) and plays of shooting to the revolver ( Virtua COP , Time Crisis , The House off the Dead …) because those Ci also impose a precalculated way and a freedom of movement limited to the sphere of activity of the weapon. The shot them up like Ikaruga or Gradius are not included in this category, because even if the player cannot direct the speed of progression, it has a mobility much more important.
