Rafael Eitan (politician)

Youth

Eitan was born on November 23rd, 1926 in the Kibboutz from Ein Harod then under British mandate. His/her parents were pioneers Zionists from Russia in 1923. His/her father Noach Hantman was a poet and his/her mother Miriam Lutzansky was housewife. They had three children whose Rafi, Oded and Rina, and lived in Ramat HaSharon, a small colony of 100 families. Eitan finishes its college in 1940 and went to the prestigious school saving in London.

Secret services

During the Israeli-Arab War of 1948, Eitan made party of the military intelligence services of Tsahal. It integrated Mossad after its creation in 1951 and reached the post of sub-manager of the operations of Mossad. It is at this station that it carried out the operation of capture of Adolf Eichmann. Civil activities

Eitan continued its work in the secret services until in 1972, where it left its functions for the private sector, it dealt then with companies related to agriculture. But in 1978, the government of Menahem Begin, then Prime Minister of Israel, recalled it to be its adviser in terrorism, because Eitan was recognized like one of the best specialists in the subject. In 1981, Eitan was named with the head of a department depend on the ministry for defense, where it continued to work on terrorism, but in 1984, its office was splashed by the business Jonathan Pollard and dissolves. Eitan received the station of manager of the Israeli public company of chemistry, which it left in 1993 at the 67 years age.

Policy

Eitan was called to lead the party Gil pensioners to the Israeli legislative elections of 2006. The party gained 7 seats whereas the surveys did not promise to them more than 2 or 3 seats.
