Rafał Blechacz
Rafał Blechacz (born the June 30th 1985 with Naklo nad Notecia, Poland) is a Pianiste Polish, prize winner of the first price of XVe international Concours of piano Frederic-Chopin of Warsaw in 2005. This contest - considered for its very great difficulty - crown, every five years, an exceptional talent, and makes it possible to forecast for the prize winner of a promising artistic career. It, in the past, made it possible to reveal pianists like Martha Argerich, Maurizio Pollini or Krystian Zimmermann.
Rafał Blechacz, which began the Piano at the five years age, studies with the Academy of Music of Bydgoszcz. At the beginning of its career, it receives a great number of rewards, not only in its native land, where it obtained the 2nd price of the Contest of piano Arthur Rubinstein with Bydgoszcz (2002), but also abroad, in Germany, with the Japan (2003), or with the Morocco (2004).
At the time of the Chopin contest, the October 21st 2005, the artistic performance of Rafał Blechacz was considered to be so higher than that of its competitors, than the international jury considered to be convenient not to allot the second price, to mark the distance between Rafał and the others. In addition to the gold medal, Rafał was gratifié of three special prices: “ better performance for a mazurka ”, “ better performance for Polish a ” and “ better performance for a concerto ”. The third price was allotted to the two Korean brothers , Dong Hyek Lim and Dong Min Lim.
For the Polish, the attribution of this prestigious reward to one their compatriots, in a contest which bears the name of Frederic Chopin is at the same time a joy, a pride and an honor. Rafał Blechacz succeeds in the prize list the last Pole prize winner, the unforgettable one and talented Krystian Zimmermann, crowned in 1975.
Rafał Blechacz was invited in 2006 with the Philharmonie of Warsaw and the Conservatoire of Moscow with the orchestra of the Théâtre Mariinsky of Saint-Pétersbourg under the direction of Valery Gergiev.
The May 29th 2006, Rafał Blechacz signed a franchise agreement for five years with Deutsche Grammophon for the recording in three discs, of which the first must leave in 2007.
