Radio Silk worker is an associative radio which diffuses its programs with Lyon and in its agglomeration on tape 102.2 FM. Radio operator history of the district of the slopes of Cross-Russet-red its slogan is: “ the Radio operator SILK WORKER, most rebellious of the radios! ”. It is installed with 24 rue du Blandan sergeant in the 1st district of Lyon. Radio operator SILK WORKER is an association governed by the law of July 1st, 1901 and whose statutes were declared with the prefecture of the Rhone on September 27th, 1981. It holds its name of the Canuts, workmen of Lyonnais silk.

history

In the pirate radio station beginning and illegal, it is created in 1977 from a political point of view to fight against the monopoly of the traditional mediums on the radiophonic diffusion, it fits then in an important movement of creation of pirate radio stations of which it remains the only surviving one on Lyon. The High ranking authority of the audio-visual communication authorizes Radio Silk worker to emit in a legal way on August 21st, 1985 on the 102.2 MHz, frequency which it still currently uses. Since December 1985 Radio Silk worker signs each year a convention of diffusion with TDF.

Operating process

Its operation is ensured by the voluntary ones on the principle of the Autogestion. The refusal of commercial logics does of them one of the only radios without publicity of the French radiophonic landscape, from where a financing made up of subsidies and contributions of the organizers of the emissions. Radio operator Silk worker is opened to the people motivated according to methods explained on Internet site of the radio.

Policy

Now legal it however keeps its rebellious identity:

For the musical programming (which remains majority in time of antenna) with a choice of music which one could described as " not commerciales" , pointed and very varied (punk, reggae, song, jazz, experimental music,…).

For its operation: any person having a project can propose an emission. All the organizers and stimulating take part in the management of radio operator silk worker

For its political emissions of expression, with a refusal of the " distort objectivité" asserted by the majority of the media but with an assumed subjectivity. It organizes each year a meal of district in the 1st district of Lyon, on May 1st places Sathonay where are found certain organizers of the radio, certain inhabitants of the district and certain demonstrators returning of the traditional trade-union demonstration (in general part of the procession " Red and black (anarchistic) " demonstration joined the meal of district).
