Radio666

Radio666 is a radio associative of Hérouville-Saint-Clearly in the Calvados.

The radio " Radio for tous" on May 31st, 1982 by Claude Buot in the movement of the free radios was founded lately authorized by the State. The name of this radio of district which has its studios in a wall cupboard of MJC of Hérouville holds its name of derived from the " house for tous" which east is administratively attached. Vis-a-vis the proliferation of the free radios after their legalization in 1981, the government decides to gather two stations by frequencies. But Radio for all escapes this regrouping thanks to the intervention from Louis Mexandeau, then Minister for postal and telecommunications authorities.

The radio functions thanks to the conscientious objectors and the voluntary ones. It is the voice of the MJC by in particular making the promotion in the concerts organized by the latter and by disseminating local information.

It becomes " 99FM the wave rock" at the end of 1985, following the disappearance of " Radio operator UHT" who occupied up to now the crenel rock'n'roll on the agglomeration. The radio occupies from now on a garage with under ground of the MJC and sees arriving of many voluntary of all edges (student, sdf…) often resulting from transitory free radios whose movement starts to be blown. Some employees with insecure contracts (TUC) ensure animation in day.

In 1992, the SCUMS reorganizes once again the band kind FM 99FM to emit on frequency 99,1 MHz, making obsolete the name of the radio. It becomes " 666" , direct reference to the Number of the animal, rock'n'roll being formerly regarded as the music of the Devil. Its buildings increased with all under ground of the MJC of which it becomes independent, Claude Buot having founded his own association, bearing the same name as the radio, making it thus autonomous. The formerly adherent organizers of the radio of the MJC become adherent then association lately created.

The radio organizes concerts in the Caen-native agglomeration and supports the local alternate artists briskly. Animation in day is always ensured by employees (THESE, conscientious objectors) and the evenings are occupied by the emissions sets of themes of the voluntary ones. Running 90, the musical tendency evolves/moves. Always directed rock'n'roll, the radio opens its doors with the rap and the techno.

At the end of 90, an Internet site is created and the radio master key gently at the era of the numerical one. Platinums are replaced by hard drives, the editing tables by computers, the scissors and the Scotch tape by a mouse… The radio starts to emit on Internet in 1999. At the time of the celebration of its 20 years in 2002, there remain nothing any more but two associative radios in Caen. The whole of the band FM is occupied by the great sales networks or the public radios.

The radio is member of the network Ferarock, the network of the associative radios Rock. The station is in listening on frequency 99.1 FM in all the Caen-native agglomeration and on its Web site.
