In France

The Radical party is a Political party French. One distinguishes:

  • the Radical party “historical”, holding a speech of left but controlling with the center-right, very powerful in first half of the 20th century. One speaks retrospectively about Radical party or Parti radical socialist to indicate this party founded in 1901 under the complete name of Republican party, radical and radical socialist . It is generally called today Radical party “valoisien”. Since 1899, the radicals form a party made up of Waldeck Rousseau, a moderate republican. In 1902, the forces of the Bloc of the lefts of which it forms part gain the elections and the Radical party takes in hand the French policy, it chairs the government on several occasions. In 1907, the radical party proposes a new program which rejects the republican institutions, preaches a social reformism (rejecting the class struggle in particular), a patriotic foreign politics, a policy anticlerical and rests to reinforce fraternity. The radicals occupy more and more the House of Commons. From 170 deputies in 1898, the radical party passes to 196 in 1914. The persistence of this movement illustrates the maintenance of the control of the radicals of right-hand side on the Radical party heard like organization. This party was one of the components of the UDF; he is today a “moral person associated” with the UMP.

  • the Union of the radical republicans (U 2R), which joins together the radicals resulting from the two historical branches having supported the candidature of Jean-Pierre Chevènement for the presidential election of 2002. U 2R is part from now on of the democratic Mouvement after having supported Francois Bayrou with presidential of 2007.

In Switzerland

The Radical party indicates the radical-democratic Parti (PRD) which is a liberal line party. He is regarded as the party having allowed the creation of a Federal state in Switzerland in 1848. Since then, the political system was maintained without interruption until our days.

After a slow decline of 1891 with 1959, the radical party since maintained two seats out of seven at the federal government (the Federal council).

In Italy

The Italian Radical party (PR), is a political training founded in 1955 by dissidents of center-left of the Italian Liberal party (FOLD). It adhered in 2005 to the new political regrouping of the Pink to the fist. In 2004, dissidents (left wing) created a radical left party (Radicali di Sinistra), of social-liberal tendency and ecologist. In 2006, dissidents (right wing) formed a new radical party, liberal and favorable to an alliance with the line, (Riformatori Liberali).

In Spain

The radical republican tendency is always alive, though remaining in a form groupusculaire. The Republican left of Spain (Izquierda Republicana de España) was born on April 3rd, 1934, of fusion the Acción Republicana of Manuel Azaña, of the Partido Republicano Radical Socialista, of Marcelino Domingo, and the Organización Republicana Gallega Autónoma, of Santiago Casares Quiroga. The Spanish Democratic Republican Action (Acción Republicana Democrática Española) was founded on August 2nd, 1977, following the fusion of two Republican parties, the Republican left and the Republican Union.

In Denmark

The Party of the Radical left (Det Radikale Venstre) was created in 1905 (on May 21st) by dissidents of the Liberal party of Denmark (Venstre, Danmarks Liberale Party). The " Left radicale" is a party social-liberal, of center-left.

In Chile

The Radical party and Social democrat (Social-Demócrata Radical Partido) were born in 1994, following the fusion of the Radical party and the Social democrat Party.

In Argentina

The Radical Civic Union (Unión Cívica Radical) is a party of center-left, member of the Internationale Socialist, which is equipped with a section of youth (Juventud Radical) and with a trade-union relai (Organizacion Nacional of los Trabadores Radicales)

In Ecuador

The Radical Face Alfariste (Radical Frente Alfarista) is a liberal party, founded in 1972. The epithet " alfariste" refers to Eloy Alfaro, one of the great figure of the Ecuadorian liberalism of the XIXe century, founder, in 1884, first local liberal party. The Ecuadorian Liberal Radical party (Liberal Partido Radical Ecuatoriana) is another liberal party claiming republican radicalism.

In Paraguay

The Authentic Liberal Radical party (Liberal Partido Radical Auténtico) is a party of center-droite, founded with Asuncion, in 1972. The PLRA is the principal training of opposition of the country, adversary of the Parti Colorado.
