Rad Racer
Rad Racer is a automobile Video game of race, developed and published by Square Co. in 1987 for the console Nintendo Entertainment System. This title, one of the first of the kind on this console, is regarded as the response of Nintendo to the famous Out Run of its competitor Sega, left the previous year.
The play left initially to the Japan on Famicom under the name. For its American exit this name was changed, to avoid the Homonymie with the tube Highway Star of Deep Purple.
Gameplay
The gameplay is not without recalling that of Out Run , until the change of musical topic on the car radio of the car.The play proposes a series of 8 races on road where the player must pass different checkpoints with a limit from time, at the wheel of a Ferrari 328 or of a car of Formule 1 (similar to a Lotus 99T). In the event of collision with another car or an obstacle, the vehicle is immobilized during one moment before being able to start again.
The play also proposes a mode ā3Dā which gives, thanks to the provided two-tone glasses 3D, an impression of image in Three dimensions (Anaglyphe). This technique had already been used by Square in 3D WorldRunner , published a little earlier the same year.
