The Racing Club Chalonnais is a club of Rugby to XV French evolving/moving in 2007-2008 in Fédérale 1.

History

The club knew more the high level, the First Division, on several occasions, with two quarterfinals of the championship of France, of which one in 1963.

In 1993, it is the descent of Racing Club Chalonnais of the group has, more the high level of French Rugby, in group B of the 1st division.

The club has like ambition to forge an enough solid group to join the anteroom of the elite, the Pro D2, under the crook of Loïc Van Der Linden, old third line of Brive, with which it gained the Coupe of Europe in 1997, arrived with the club in 2005.

In 2007, the ex-trainer of LOU Rugby (Olympic Lyon University Rugby): Jean Henry Tubert takes again the queens of the RC Chalon. The objective is always to go up in Pro D2 and to have a club of Rugby representing Burgundy as a pro.

Trawl-net reached this year the quarterfinals of the trophy Jean Prat. After a victory in stoppings against the Sporting ES Catalan woman 22 to 11 on May 13rd, the team was eliminated by Blagnac, one of the favorites of the test. May 20th with Chalon the two teams separated on a tie 26-26 (2 transformed tests and 4 penalties on each side). At the time of this match, the trainer of Blagnac Pierre-Henry Broncan received a red paperboard, rare fact in Rugby, and could not thus take seat on the bench at the time of the return match which took place with Blagnac on May 27th and saw the victory of the players haut-garonnais on the score from 27 to 14 (2 tests, 1 transformation and 5 goals with Blagnac against 1 test and 3 goals with Chalon).

The RC Chalon will thus evolve/move into Federal 1 at the time of the season 2007-2008.

Manpower 2007/08

The recruitment carried out by Jean-Henry Thubert was based on youth (24 years of average age), which proves that the club wants to engage on the long run and the return the old Burgundian ones.
