Rachel
According to the account of the book of the Genesis, Rachel (Hebrew raHel : ewe) is the cousin and the second woman of Jacob. She is also the girl of Laban and the sister of Lea.
Biblical account
Rachel is the first nobody of its family that Jacob meets close to a well on his arrival with Harran. When Jacob sees Rachel, girl of Laban, brother of her mother, leading the herd of Laban, it approaches, rolls the stone of top the opening of the well, and waters the herd.
He cries by embracing Rachel. Jacob learns in Rachel that he is relative of his father, that he is wire of Rebecca. And it runs to announce it with her father. As soon as Laban intends to speak Jacob, wire of his sister, it runs ahead of of him, it embraces it and the fact of coming in its house.
After seven years of work at Laban and after having married the elder Lea, Jacob marries finally Rachel which is sterile. Jealous of the fruitfulness of his/her sister, Rachel will make marry her maidservant Bilha in Jacob.
Later, it will give him finally two wire Joseph then Benjamin, whose birth cost him the life whereas the family returns in the Pays of Canaan.
Rachel dies on the way of the return towards Bethlehem. The Tombeau of Rachel, place holy of the Judaïsme, symbolizes for the Juifs the road that the Judaea NS took at the time of the Exil of Babylon.
