Raúl Juliá

Raul Julia is a Porto Rican actor born the March 9th 1940 with San Juan (Puerto Rico), deceased the October 24th 1994 with Manhasset (New York) (the United States).

Its complete name is Raul Rafael Carlos Julia there Arcelay .

Biography

Discovered in a night club of Puerto Rico by the actor Orson Bean, it leaves to Manhattan in 1964 and quickly finds small roles in spectacles. In 1966, it starts to appear in shakespeariens roles, in particular the King Lear in 1973 and Othello in 1979. One also sees it in musical comedies. Its success on the boards brings it to the cinema.

One of its best roles is certainly that of a political prisoner in the Kiss of the woman spider (1985). He also excels in the dramatic roles of hero, and even of " méchants" , in particular in the Family Addams (1991) and her continuation.

In 1993, it learns that it is reached of a cancer. Its health becomes staggering, but it continues to turn, and the role of a Brazilian ecologist in the telefilm The Burning Season (1994) will be worth 2 posthumous rewards to him.

The October 16th 1994, weakened, it is victim of an heart attack in its apartment new yorkais, and fall into the coma. He dies the October 24th at the 54 years age. Its body is repatriated in Puerto Rico, where thousands of admirors come to pay homage to him. Its last film, Street Fighter , is dedicated to him.
