RTT 2
RTT 2 (rear RTL إتت 2) (Tunisian Broadcasting-television 2) is old a public television channel and general practitioner Tunisia.
History of the chain
The French, which wish to install as of 1966 the relai of the second channel of ORTF in Tunisia, run up against the refusal of the Tunisian persons in charge. The persons in charge of the ORTF agree in 1969 to finance the creation of a Tunisian second channel French-speaking, to arrange with the seat of RTT a studio equipped with average techniques light of transmission and to install four transmitters and relay transmitters around the capital and in the north of the country. The project stumbles and the agreement is signed only in 1982.The Décret of the December 25th 1982 envisages creation within the direction of the television of a subdirectorate of the international chain which must “ensure the design, the programming, the production and the diffusion of the programs in French language”.
Impetus officially the June 12th 1983 with 20:30 by the national anthem, the RTT 2 daily diffuses its programs between 20:30 and 23:00 (19h00 at midnight saturdays and Sunday) starting from studio 12 of the RTT. However, put besides its Tv news, the chain is not equipped with a clean Budget nor of means of production. The 10% of the total budget of Tunisian television which are allocated to him are useful in priority with remuneration of its personnel. To that comes to be added not very attractive programming. Of direct and spontaneousness, the persons in charge of the second chain are satisfied to select programs coming from the French public channels. A study carried out in 1988 credits the RTT 2 with a goes down for hearing weekly of 20%.
The chain disappears in 1989 when its antenna is yielded to the diffusion of the emissions of the second channel of French television, Antenne 2 (become France 2 in 1992) until the end of October 1999, date on which Canal 21 (which since 1994 emits daily on the same channel during more than two hours) obtains the exclusive use of the network.
