RTS 1

RTS 1 is the Television channel public general practitioner sénégalaise.

History of the chain

In 1965, Senegal knows its first television programs born of a pilot project supported by the UNESCO which aims to educate and teach reading and writing the adult populations by the production of teaching emissions. These programs stop in 1972, a little before the Olympic Games do not begin from Munich. This frustration encourages the Senegalese government to create an organization to manage the radio and television.

Thus, the Office of Broadcasting Television of Senegal (ORTS) is created by the law n° 73-51 of the December 4th 1973, operating two radio stations and a national television channel.

The law n° 92-02 of January 6th 1992 created the National company of Broadcasting Television sénégalaise (R.T.S.) which replaces the ORTS and changes its statute of public corporation related to administration into national company. The national television channel ORTS is then renamed RTS 1 .

Programs

Like any general channel, RTS 1 proposes information, sport, entertainments, magazines, series and films.

The RTS being partner of International Channel France, certain programs of RTS 1 results from the bank of programs of CFI.

The Tv news of semi-day is diffused each day with 13:00. The Tv news of the evening is diffused each day with 20:00.

Emissions

Moslem Letters : religious emission with the Imam Ousmane Guèye diffused every Thursday evening after the tv news.
Rap TV Show : monthly musical program entirely devoted to the Rap (85% of rap international, and 15% of Senegalese rap) presented by Aziz Coulibaly and diffused saturdays with 15:00.

Diffusion

RTS 1 is diffused out of 4 terrestrial hertzian transmitters of 10kW installed with Thiès, Tambacounda, Ziguinchor and Louga.

RTS 1 is also diffused on the satellite Eutelsat W3A since September 6th, 2005 thus making it possible to collect the chain on all Africa and Europe.
