RPL

RPL is a procedural Computer programming language invented by Hewlett-Packard in 1984 for its Calculatrice S (HP-28, 48, 49). These initials meant in the beginning “Romanian-based Procedural Language ”, but its similarities with the Lisp of which it is inspired resulted in renaming it “ Reverse Polish Lisp ”, i.e. “ Polish Lisp reversed ”.

It derives from the languages Forth (language for machines of 4th generation) and Lisp, whose name means “LISt Processor”. The RPL uses the Polish Notation reverses.

This language uses a pile and is equipped with the traditional instructions with loops and tests. (FOR NEXT, IF THEN ELSE END, BOX THEN END, WHILE REPEATE END, C UNTIL END).
