The Base of Naval Aeronautics (ROUND OF APPLAUSE) Nimes-Let us park , founded in 1961, is one of principal the air bases of the French Aéronavale .
It is located meadows of the town of Nimes in the Département of Gard at a few tens of kilometers of the coasts of the Mediterranean.
Mixed aerodrome (civil and military), the ground is opened with the public air traffic for the needs for air transport. A principal affectataire: the Minister for Defense for naval aeronautics. Secondary affectataires: the Minister for Transport for the civil aviation and the Minister of Interior Department for the civil security. The commander of the base of naval aeronautics is the director of aerodrome. The civil part is the airport Nimes - Arles - the Camargue
The track is equipped, in North and the South, of bits of stop for the Landings Simulated On Track (ASSP).
History
- 1961 : inauguration of the ROUND OF APPLAUSE and arrival of the flotilla 6F (Bréguet Br 1050 Trade wind)
- 1962: installation of the flotillas 21F and 22F (Lockheed P2V Neptune)
- 1964: arrival of the school of the flying personnel (EPV/56S)
- 1965: first Breguet Atlantic (ATL1) with the 21F
- 1993: arrival of the Atlantic first (ATL2) with the 21F
- 1996: dissolution of the flotilla 22F
- 1997: creation of the Center of Drive and Instruction (CEI NIMES-GARONS)
- 2000: dissolution of the flotilla 6F
- 2002: dissolution of the flotilla 56S, arrived of the flotilla 28F (Northern 262E, Xingu)
