RIPEMD-160

The algorithm of chopping RIPEMD-160 , for RACE Integrity Primitives Evaluation Message Digest , is a Fonction of chopping which generates a signature of 160 bits. It was developed in Europe by Hans Dobbertin, Antoon Bosselaers and Bart Preneel. Published in 1996, it acts of a version improved of the RIPEMD which takes up certain ideas of MD4. Other versions of the algorithm exist (128, 256 and 320 bits). A collision for the original RIPEMD was discovered in August 2004, at the same time as the collision on MD5.
