R.U.R. (Rossum' S Universal Robots) is a play of Science-fiction, written in 1920 by Karel Čapek (Czechoslovakia) and put in scene at Prague in 1921 and played New York in 1922. It is in this play that the author used the word Robot for the first time, although it is his/her brother Josef Čapek who invented it. " Robot" will supplant immediately the " term; automaton" used by the author in the short part " Opilec" of 1917.
