R.E.M. is a group of American Rock formed with the autumn 1979, and thus baptized on April 5th, 1980 by Michael Stipe (song), Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (low) and Bill Berry (battery)
Biography
In 1980, the four members of the group are students at the University of Georgia with Athens, and share a joint taste for the music. They begin their career by a round in the American south under name R.E.M., initial of " Rapid Eye Movement". As of the first individual one, Radio operator Free Europe which appears in 1981, specialized criticism feels that it holds a group of exception here and very seriously continues to believe in R.E.M when in 1981 leaves an mini-album entitled Chronic Town . Exténués by rounds and concerts ceaseless, the four musicians decide to make small a one year pause after the exit of the album Green in 1988. And well took some to them since on their return in 1991, R.E.M knows finally glory with the planetary scales thanks to the tubes Losing My Religion and Shiny Happy People (duet sung with Kate Pierson of The B-52' S) extracted the album Out Of Time . Consequently, one hears R.E.M on all the radios, the four Athenians indeed became one of the groups more in vogue of the moment.
From now on the worship Automatic for the People (1992) which contains the very famous ballade Everybody Hurts , Monster (1994), then New Adventures In Hi-fi (1996) will follow. In 1997, after an aneurysmal rupture in full concert with Lausanne during the round according to the exit of Monster in 1995, the beater Bill Berry decides to leave the group and to be withdrawn in its farm. In 2004 leaves Around The Sun which is followed of a long round through the whole world (the group will move in 31 States on the whole).
