Río Ene

The río Ene is a river of the Amazonian Bassin which runs with the Peru. Its length is of 180,6 km.

This river is formed by the junction of the rivers Mantaro and Apurímac to approximately 400 m of altitude. The point of junction marks the Tripoint between the Peruvian areas of Junín, Cuzco and Ayacucho.

He traverses the oriental party of the Province of Satipo, in direction of north, in a landscape of the high tropical forest where he receives many small affluents.

The río Ene joins the Río Perené close to Puerto Prado, with 295 meters of altitude to form the Río Tambo which joins further the Río Urubamba to form the Río Ucayali.

With Apurímac, Ene forms a geographical and economic unit often indicated in Peru under the initials VRAE ( Valle del Río Apurímac Ene ). In 2006, this zone out of control of the Peruvian State and was practically dedicated to the culture of the Coca with the financial support and logistic of the drug traffickers. The Peruvian authorities try to take again the initiative in the sector by sending 1.500 soldiers to it at the end of 2006.
