Río Azul
The Río Azul or Blue Rivière French is in Patagonie Argentine. It has its sources in the Andes cordillera, at an altitude of 1800 meters, the North-West of the locality of El Bolsón, in the province of Río Negro, Département of Bariloche, and, after having traversed 40 km in a deep valley, it is thrown in the Lac Puelo, in the province of Chubut.
Description of the higher course
Born in the east from the Andes cordillera, Río Azul belongs to the slope of the Pacific Ocean, considering which it pours its water in the Lac Puelo of which the emissary, the Río Puelo, crosses the Chilean border to emerge finally in the Estuaire of Reloncaví, not far from the Chilean city of Puerto Montt.Its origin is primarily in various streams (small rivers or brooks) which drain melt water of the glacier Hielo Azul (what wants to say blue ice ), and it receives also the contributions of other tributaries come from the Cerro Cigarro (2210 meters), located more at the west towards the border of the Chile.
As of the beginning, it receives left side water of the Cañadón del Rayado . Quickly it engages in a deep glacial valley , boxed between two rock barriers in called west-east direction Cajón del Azul . Its higher course continues kind, to its confluence with a left tributary, the Río Encanto Blanco . There, it will turn abruptly in southern direction, towards the lake Puelo. These is the lower course which begins.
Cours inferior
In this part of its course, it receives right-sided the contributions of many rivers descending of the snow-covered summits of the cordillera. Among them the principal ones are them streams Raquel , Lindo and Motoco .Close to its mouth, it receives left side water of its principal affluent the Río Quemquemtreu, which ran him parallel to since several kilometers and from which it was separated by a wooded rise called Loma del Medio .
Flow and raw
Rio Azul present of the seasonal risings at the time of the rains (autumn/winter), which tear off great quantities of materials, especially of the stones and trees, sapped by the erosion of its banks. Its medium flow is roughly of 30 m ³ /seconde.
Ichtyologic fauna
On all its course Río Azul has an average quantity of fish, made up mainly of Truite S of the varieties trout fario (of European origin) ( Salmo fario ) and North-American trout rainbow ( Oncorhynchus mykiss ).
