Régnié

Simplified history

The culture of the vine goes back to highest antiquity. In fact the Romains established it in Gaulle, in Beaujolais and in Régnié in particular, as the discovery of the vestiges of a Gallo-Roman villa attests it, pertaining to Réginus, noble Roman who gave his name to the commune.

With the the Middle Ages, the monks developed the culture of it.

At the 18th century, the opening of the channel of Briare allowing the transport of the wine by inland waterway to Paris supported its rise. Since 1936, with the appearance of the concept of Name of Controlled origin, the I.N.A.O. (National institute of the Labels of origin) the great quality of the wines of Régnié recognized which joined in 1988 nine other famous Vintages of the Beaujolais wine.
