Råshult
Råshult or Råshults Södregård , also known like Linnés Råshult , is a field of the parish of Stenbrohult, located in current the Commune of Älmhult (Comté of Kronoberg), in the province of Småland, in Sweden. Its surface is of 42 hectares.
The naturalist Carl Linnaeus, future Carl von Linné , was born there the May 23rd 1707 and lived there until the 18 months age.
The field of Råshult is a museum managed by the Swedish Société linnéenne, to which the Swedish authorities gave the statute of cultural reserve on December 16th, 2002. One can visit there a cottage rebuilt at the end of the 18th century (a fire having destroyed the buildings of origin about 1730), as well as a whole of gardens dedicated to the work of the famous naturalist and reconstituting the environment and the agrarian practices of the time.
The place is located close to the lake of Möckeln and halfway between the town of Älmhult and the village of Diö, with less than 10 km of each one of them.
